The Night My Spirit Broke Free: A Worship Experience I’ll Never Forget
There are nights that feel like a gentle escape… and then there are nights that completely change you.
This was one of those nights.
I had the opportunity to attend a concert featuring Tauren Wells, Jamie MacDonald, and Phil Wickham—and I walked in expecting a good time, but I walked out feeling set free in a way I didn’t even realize I needed.
Walking In With Expectations… and Baggage
If I’m being honest, I didn’t come in empty. I came in carrying stress, overthinking, and that quiet pressure we as women often hold—trying to be everything for everyone. Even when we love God deeply, life has a way of piling things on our hearts. But the moment the music started, something shifted.
Worship That Hits Different
There’s something powerful about being in a room full of people who are all focused on the same thing—Jesus.
When Tauren Wells took the stage, his energy was contagious. It wasn’t just music—it felt like a call to rise up, to remember who we are, and to shake off everything that’s been weighing us down.
Then Jamie MacDonald came out, and there was this raw, authentic vulnerability in her voice. It didn’t feel polished or distant—it felt real. Like she understood the quiet battles we fight and was singing straight to them.
And then… Phil Wickham.
I don’t even know how to fully put it into words.
There was a moment during worship where the entire room lifted their voices together, and it didn’t feel like a concert anymore. It felt like heaven touching earth. I closed my eyes, and for a second, everything else disappeared—the worries, the opinions, the noise.
It was just me and God.
The Moment Everything Broke
There was a song—one of those songs that doesn’t just sound good, it reaches inside you. And in that moment, I felt something break. Not in a painful way—but in a freeing way. The kind of breaking where chains fall off. The kind where you realize you’ve been holding onto things God never asked you to carry.Tears came, but they weren’t tears of sadness. They were release. They were healing. And I knew right then… this is what Women Unchained is all about.
What I Took Home With Me
I didn’t leave that night the same way I came. I left lighter. Stronger. Reminded. Reminded that I don’t have to strive so hard. Reminded that God sees me—even in the quiet places. Reminded that freedom isn’t something we earn—it’s something we step into.
